FALL!
Iv been busy knitting away and trying to learn French. I made this cowl a few weeks ago and I think Im going to make everyone in my host family one for Christmas. Christmas time here is going to be so amazing. The whole city is already covered in trees with fake snow, there are lights hanging from everywhere. There are Christmas markets set up and nuts roasting and cakes backing, it always smells wonderful! There is even an ice skating place they set up in the middle of the park with rides for children around it like rain deer rides and roller coasters. The other day I heard on the radio that 2 million people go to Strasbourg at Christmas just to go to the Christmas markets. CRAZY! Well I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Life is good
Hello! Excuse the lack of blog updates. Since it has been so long I will just give you all an update on whats been going on over here in France. Today I started language school. It's very boring all I do is sit at the computer for 2 hours and work on activities and talk into a microphone. Ill be going 2-3 times a week so hopefully my French will improve soon. This morning for some reason I thought I started school at 11 until my host mom came upstairs and asked why I wasn't already at the bus station. Then I realized I started at 10 not 11 oops. I ended up being late to my sports class which was the only class I had today. My teacher didn't really care I just told him I missed the bus. I love not really having to worry about school! Just another great thing about being an exchange student.
This weekend I went to Strasbourg with the other exchange students. We went on a boat tour, visited the Cathedral, watched someone make some pottery, went to some WW2 fort, discoed, ate lollipops and lots and lots and lots and lots of delicious chocolates and truffles, and only slept 2 hours. It was pretty great.
Iv been eating a lot of food I have a food baby all the time. I ate frog legs, kidney and goose liver. Frog legs are great but I can live without the kidney and liver. The liver is sort of like cat food. Yum.... I also eat a lot of food that i unidentified. So Im sure I have eaten a lot of other strange things. Oh and since my host mom is Japanese we eat Japanese food a lot also. I am becoming a beast at eating with chopsticks! :D This is just an idea of what I have been up to. Add me on skype or send me and email or message if you want my address to send me letters!!! Xoxo
P.S. Ignore all of the grammar mistakes and things!

Old Men and Baguettes
How is it that the 7 year olds can take the public bus but I cant? It would be easier for me to figure out how to work a rocket then it is to figure out what bus I should get on.
Monday was my fist day of school. I took the bus with my host dad there so it was fine. Coming home was the hard part. Since I have a different schedule every day I have to take different bus numbers at different times. It's so confusing. And since there are more then one number of every bus I have to make sure it's going in the right direction. So anyway after school on monday I got on the bus to go to the station, I made it there with no trouble. The next bus from the station to my house didn't stop at my stop! I decided to got off at the next stop. It was a few min to the next stop I had no clue were I was, we were no longer in the city. Apparently I crossed the forest and ended up in some little village. I called my host mom so she could come get me. While I was standing there waiting I noticed there were chickens running around, roosters crowing, dogs barking, run down buildings and not a person in sight. Hope I never end up there again. Finally my host mom got there I was so embarrassed and felt so bad she had to drive all the way to come get me! But she didn't mind. She told me next time to push the stop button, but I didn't even notice one. But other wise my first day of school was great! All of my teachers seem okay and most of them speak at least a little English.
Tuesday morning I got up and told myself I wouldn't make the same mistake. I got to to the bus stop and got on the bus...It was the right one!!! I went to the station and got on my next bus. Well I thought it was my next bus until I saw the sing that we were leaving the city limits....oooppsss....Once I was the only one left on the bus I realized I better go talk to the driver. Since I don't speak French it was more like hand motions head nodding and pointing at maps and times. Turns out I was on the right bus number just not going the right direction. He told me he has to loop back and he would end up where I needed to go it would just take a while. So I stayed on the bus for about an hour. Old men with baguettes kept getting on the bus with me, it was so strange I just wanted to take a picture of all the old men holding there baguettes. Anyway finally I ended up at school only about a minute late to my only class of the day, gym. After gym I got back on the bus. I made it to the station and got on my next bus. This time I knew id make it home because I knew there was a stop button to push. Well turns out im not blind there really is not stop button on that bus. So right before We got to my stop I had to go up and talk to the driver. He said he would stop there for me after a while of me trying to explain which stop I wanted to get off at. So I mad home in one piece.
Today everything went okay. I guess since my bus home doesn't have a stop button ill just have to tell the driver where I need to get off. Hopefully my public bus skills are improving and I wont get lost or have trouble a least for a few days.

School!
Bonjour!
Life here in Colmar is great so far! Food is amazing, most of the people are nice (and speak English), and best of all my host family is great! I start school on monday. I have mixed feelings about that. A few days ago I had to go in with Madame Tharotte to meet my principal and talk about what classes I wanted to take. He speaks English so thats good, but I don't think he likes me much mostly because I told him I know like 5 sentences in French. Oh well he can deal. Then I had to go see my class principal I guess is what you would call her to fill out papers. She's so nice but speaks absolutely no English. I have to go to her if ever need anything. She told me to find people who speak English and bring them when I need to talk to her so they can translate for us. But hopefully I wont need to talk to her and if I do I better know French by then. Anyway I had to go back again today to meet her so I could get my books, schedule, tour, and everything. They made me go to my History and Geography class and give a presentation. I was ready to do it in French and they told me to just do it in English. We walked in and she told the class I was American and they were all like ''ohhhhh.....'' And smiling. Then I started talking when I said bonjour they all said ''Hi'' and were giggling. Not sure if that was good or bad but they were really nice at least for the whole 3 min I was in the room. I was sooo scared when I had to say where I was from and everything. But it was fine. By monday when I go to school there all going to know me as the American who speaks no French. Hopefully ill be able to make some friends!
Oh and my schedule is GREAT on Monday I have French from 8-10, then I have History in English from 10-12, then a 2 hr break, then from 2-4 I have History and Geography. On Tuesday I only have Gym from 10-12. On Wednesday I only have one class again, French from 10-12. On Thursday I have English from 8-10, a 3 hr break, History and Geography from 1-2. And on Friday I have History and Geography from 11-12, a 4 hr break, then Art class from 4-6. Notice that I got out of having math and science!!! :D And I got out of having class on Saturday! The bad thing is I have to take the bus from my house to the station and then get on another bus to go to my school. They bus schedule is so confusing and times don't always match up with my school schedule. So some days im on the bus or waiting for the bus longer then im at school. Its the biggest waist of time ever. I hate public transportation when it involves school :(
Well this was a very long and confusing post I hope it makes sense! Sorry about how all over the place it is! Salut!

What's Happening?
I was supposed to leave for France on the 23rd with all of the other students but I didn't have my Visa (even though the guy said it would be here). Then I was supposed to leave this morning at 6am but I still didn't have my Visa. My itinerary would have been really cool I would have gone form Charlotte to NYC to Iceland to Paris to Strasbourg. Too bad.
So this morning I woke up to a package at the door. Finally my Visa! So I could leave like tomorrow but of course there is a hurricane...just my luck. So now my estimated departure date is next Tuesday the 30th. But Im not going to count on it. Im sure something will go wrong, but I hope not! I just want to get to France already! Hopefully I get there before school starts.

10 days!
Iv been worried for weeks that I wont be able to leave with everyone on the 23rd because of my Visa. But I think it turns out I might end up going with everyone! YEYA! Keeping my fingers crossed. Anyway if I do leave then its in 10 days and I still need to do a million things. Im already thinking about my first day of school. It's hard enough to go to a new school where they speak English it's going to be a thousand times harder to go to a school where they speak French a language I do not yet speak. Oh no what did I get myself into? :) I think that probably the only thing Im really nervous for... well and going through customs and security at the airport, that always freaks me out. I am so excited to meet my host family and host rotary club! I also can't wait to explore the city :D
A side note...
I would like to take some recipes with me. So if you have any good America recipes that aren't to hard let me know and ill give you my email!
